Auto or manual for towing?

    throw some sandbags in the bed… more traction from the weight and some grit to put on the mossy ramp.

    Manual seems more reliable but auto is more pleasurable to deal with in my experience.

    When towing I only use od on the flats or downhill. The Tacoma’s torque curve and gearing puts a lot of load/stress on the clutch on hills. Having oversized diameter tires puts more load/stress on the clutch as well. Same goes for an automatic, keep it out of od under load.

    To avoid burning up your clutch on a boat ramp, I use 4wd low, the reduced gearing lets you get the clutch pedal all the way out faster and with less riding of the clutch. I also use low 4wd when backing into tight spots with the trailer, it’s easier to maneuver at slower speeds.
