I had to get an Auto because I needed a Double Cab, but if Toyota made them in the 1st generation then a manual Double Cab would have been awesome. I would of gone that route.

I also had to be patient. took 3 or 4 months until i found a
one owner, 03', ext cab, silver, step-side, trd, 4x4 with 73,000 klm . over paid a little @ $17,000.00 +taxes (which are 14% up here @ the dealer) but i love it.
    good luck,

I chose the auto because I sit in traffic more than I like and it gets old to have a manual. My last couple vehicles were manual and it's nice not having to deal with it. The difference in fuel mileage is not that much.

Also, the wife drives the truck sometimes and her vagina tells her that it doesn't want to learn to drive a manual.

    Haha...not doing it...can't make me!
I lucked out and found my 05 double cab with a manual, I have been wondering since I bought it though...is a manual going to burn up faster climbing around technical routes and obstacles? My experience with my last toyota trucks, when the clutch goes it goes quick! That would be the cherry on top if my damb clutch wiped it sticky little hands clean in the middle of BFE.

Living in Colorado and driving the mountain passes all the time... a manual is the only way to go.

Coming down the passes I just put it in 4th (or 3rd if really steep) and take my foot off the gas and rarely, if ever, have to use the brakes.

Manual...more fun to drive...and if you drive it right, I think your MPG is slightly better; but that's probably just sticking in my old brain...nowadays the autos are so high tech that they equal out...but high tech also equates to expensive when things start wearing out...

The manual is still more fun regardless...and that's my two cents...

Thanks for the input! I think i'll feel better with the 5- speed. I'v always owned manuals. much easier if something f's up, and most of the time its just a worn out clutch.
