I have a 2013 with around 108k miles with an automatic transmission. It just started this weird thing. If I shift into neutral from drive just as I come to a stop for about 4-5 seconds the transmission stays in gear and I can still accelerate. It will eventually go into neutral and not re-engage until I shift it back into drive or reverse.
Has anyone seen this condition? I don't want to take it to a dealership unless I have to.
I have this posted in 2nd gen Tacomas as well. It's been suggested to post here as well.
Other suggestions have been possible sticky valve in transmission (try new fluid and filter), gear selection switch and a sticky solenoid valve.

Fluid level and condition is the place to start.

Update, Dealer thought the problem was the linkage and tried to lubricate. Seems to have helped.
