Auto start

Perfect, Thank you! So, it’s the external key fob system that can’t be used in conjunction with the smartphone application.

 

Your key fob will work just as if you didn't have the smartphone app. The app is in addition to you key fob. So you can lock/unlock the truck with your fob or app. You can remote start by hitting the lock on your fob 3 times or you can use the app to remote start.

 

If you mean external keyfob being the OEM fob, then incorrect. The OEM fob IS how our kits start and stop the engine. You press lock 3 times on you OEM fob to start the engine, 3 more times to stop it. Your OEM fob IS what works in conjunction with the smart module add-on. The remote start kit (which you must have before you add a smart module) works using your OEM fob. We don't give you, nor do you need any extra fobs for this system (unless you have a base model SR that didn't give you OEM fobs from the dealership, then we'll provide it in that kit). There are two parts to the setup, the remote starter module and then if you so desire, the optional add-on, being the smart module. Which can be added at anytime down the road if it's not purchased t the same time. However, most folks (8 out of 10 - we ran the reports) come back for the smart module IF they didn't add it to their cart the first time. So if not budget prohibited, some folks just bang it all out at the same time since the trim is already open.

 

Smart phone app is totally worth it...
The oem key fob range is not great, and now I can't imagine having to get that close to start my truck.
With the app I start it while at work, while inside shopping at the mall, at kids ball games.
Oh, and someone calls and needs something out of the truck, sure hold on, let me unlock it from my phone!

 

Just so others are aware...the range is whatever your fob was before the remote start as we neither increase or decrease range. System is only looking for 3 pulses of the OEM fob lock function. I know you already know this @DTaco18 but more of a PSA for folks not aware. But as you mentioned, we can do things to increase range easily from up to a half mile via Long Range RF fob add-on to worldwide via smart phone module add-on.

Pretty much one company manufacturers these remote start kits and sells them to middle-man companys. They put there name on them.
