Okay, so I've contacted a supplier for my adapter for a TDI engine to an R150F V6 Transmission. He said yeah I got what you need no problem to get it to work.

Thing is prospect truck has an A340 behind it's 3.4 blown engine. So I asked about the adapter for a 3.4 auto.

Guy making adapter plate said no go!

Question is what's the differences between the two transmissions that would make one not bolt up over the other.

From what I've read of people going from Auto to Manual on the 3.4 mating the two up isn't an issue, that's why I'm confused, what is getting in my way of an auto not mating to the adapter when a manual would? HMMM

    Hey Tanner,

I can't say I can potentially see a problem with the bolt pattern of either transmission because the 3.4 is the same motor with the same bolt pattern regardless of which transmission it received from the factory. The one thing you can do is make a template out of cardboard of your existing motor's bolt pattern, and then see how it lines up with the potential R150F transmission.

    Good Luck,
    Paul

Thanks for the reply, I opened this same thread on Pirate4x4 and Marlin Crawler, any other recommendations to ask?

Anyways, the R150F isn't a candidate as I want the automatic.

Is the flywheel the same between the auto and manual?

The starter has a different P/N on Oreilly's site, but they both look very similar so I don't see that being an issue.

I'm at a loss, as I don't have both tranny's in front of me, nor can I pay the money for the adapter just to be SOL if it doesn't work. lol

Fun Fact: SupraStick SSV4 seems to be the go to for controlling the transmission for an engine swap. It allows full auto, automated manual, and full manual, TC manipulation.. PADDLE SHIFTERS!!:woot:

There is a big difference between the flex plate on a Auto Transmission and a fly wheel for a Manual

The torque Converter bolts to the flex plate.

People get into trouble trying to use the same bolts between flex plates and flywheels
