Auto tran "D" is two gears?

    I read up on it; its the TC just as everyone described. I just wasn't familiar with the mechanics since every vehicle I've had before was a manual.

    Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
    Some do. I'm not sure if ours does.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    According to the article that I read the transmission locks up in third fourth and fifth. It can also achieve various degrees of lock up. This according to popular mechanics.

    You could see if you can find the article online. It was released just before the 4 runner with the 1 GR came out.

    The D position is 2 gears
    to the left in D is 4th gear
    to the right in D is 5th gear
    if you move the shifter left or right you'll feel it changing gears
    that and the torque converter

    4th gear doesnt mean that the truck will ONLY drive in 4th gear. It means that it will not go above 4th gear. It is still possible that after down shifting manually to 4th that the truck may decide that further down shift is needed and go to 3rd which would explain why after you manually go to 4th you feel another down shift. Before my regear my FJ had to downshift to 3rd just to maintain speed on a decent hill.

    The article I read said it could only fully lock in 4th and 5th, but partially lock in 3rd. They didnt go into detail, and I cant find it online.
