Last spring I did the auto tranny drain and fill. Replaced around 3 quarts of the ATF. Tried to do it again this weekend and found that the 24 mm socket would slip off the fill plug. The hex head of the plug isn't very tall and I think my socket doesn't have much bite due to the bevel. Is there a special socket or wrench that folks use? Or should I grind down the end of the socket to remove the bevel?
    Thanks, Tim

If u feel like customizing a socket, there's no real harm in that. Grind it flat and see if it works, and yeah, 6 point. You're supporting the back side too right? So the torque doesn't roll it off the plug?

Nothing wrong with plug head... just use the right tools.

It's a 6-point socket. I ground it down so now the opening is square. I'll give it a try this week.

Cmon man, that plug could be a little taller.

The fender screws are taller than that plug

Yeah, it would be nice if someone knew the thread specks so I could replace it with a more normal head height plug. I'd take the original down to a hardware store but I don't live within walking distance.
