    Hi...

Just recently joined the forum. I live in NJ and currently do not own a Tacoma. I'm trying to save for one which is becoming increasingly difficult!

Anyway...for those who have ton drive in NJ snowy winters, I was wondering if any of you guys have a 4 x 4 with auto trans.

Years ago I had a plain, no name Toyota pick up. It was a 4 x 4 and manual trans. Did great in the snow, but all the local driving I did and was making a manual trans a real pain to drive.

So...if/when I do get a Tacoma, do you thing a 4x4 auto trans would be sufficient for regular snow driving? I wouldn't be doing any off road driving.

    Thanks.

    Bob

I'm in Ohio, but I've had both and the auto was great last winter. Even though I have a V-6 in front of the auto (4 banger with the manual), I think I spun the tires less with the auto.

I have a DCLB 4x4 auto , no issues in snow due to the tranny

The only problem I had was going down hwy 70 through the Rockies near Vail Pass. It was snowing and sleeting as I was climbing a hill. The tranny abruptly shifted and my tires spun inducing a pucker factor off the charts. During normal snow driving I have never noticed any other issues. The truth is I probably goosed the throttle a bit.

As long as your not wheeling it you should be fine, only down fall is you can't really rock it with an auto.

4x4 Auto V6, no problems at all in the snow due to the transmission. Get good tires and throw some weight in the bed and you'll do fine.

I have had my '02 since new and all of those have been NH/New England winters with a 2.7 ( 4 cyl) and automatic trans....;)

Good tires and balanced weight in the bed...as Pugga suggested..

( Dam it,thats twice in 2 weeks I have agreed with him,pre-fatherhood must be maturing his thinking :p )
