Auto Trans Temp w/Cooler

    Hi All,

    I recently (a few months ago) installed a
    $56 Hayden 678 Universal Rapid-Cool 9.5” x 11” Add-On Transmission Cooler – Not for Direct Replacement of the OE Cooler
    Hayden 678 auto trans cooler and love it. It was a very easy install and adds that extra piece of mind that I keep my trans fluid temp cooler while driving. I also run a Scan Gauge 2, so I have a habit of keeping a close eye on the trans fluid temp.

    My question is, who else with a auto trans cooler (any brand) and a Scan Gauge (or similar) keeps an eye on their trans fluid temps, and what is their "average" running temp? Prior to the cooler, I would see a range of 175-220 (the higher end was when passing through mountains/steep grades). Now, with the cooler, I am seeing a noticeable difference of 120-170sh. Also, now that it's getting colder outside, I'm seeing temps as low as 95-120sh.

    I understand that the cooler the better, but is there any point in which the fluid is too cool, or becomes inefficient, or even bad?

    Yep same results here. You can even feel the temp difference when you feel the area around the shifter.

    i think there is a point where it gets too cold. i know some setups acutally bypass the cooler below a set temp.

    I'm sure at some point it could get too cold, but I don't think you'll need to worry about that :D I might look into one :)
