bought my first tacoma back in February. it has 155,000 miles on it. im having a bit of an issue with my transmission though. i recently changed the filter and fluid. followed the process of cleaning the pan and magnets and putting on the new gasket. i put a tad more tranny fluid in it then was required. my problem is when i get up early to head out it sometimes shifts funny. when i come to a complete stop it likes to go into neutral and then when i hit the gas it shifts hard into gear before is starts moving. its never done this before. it is a 2000 SR5 4x4. any ideas/past experiences with this problem would greatly help

Those are the symptoms of low transmission fluid level. Are you sure there is enough fluid present?

150k of clutch particles and crud got flushed out and new super lubricant was put in, nothing for the tranny to grab onto. I've seen this happen to 2 different cars with this problem. Put old tranny fluid in and it will run like it did before.
Also, did you use any additives?

I did the same on a 2000 with 240k and now it is not smooth when it shifts. Levels are all good adding lubeguard and instant shudder fix when it comes in.

Only if you bottled it and it's not been in an open drain pan getting dirt kicked into and rain in it. Drain as much new as you plan on adding. This is my personal opinion because it's already acting up and if it doesn't fix it you can always drain and put new back in. Not a diagnosis.

Try an additive. Can't hurt, tranny already has 150k. Try the proper lube guard for your ymm

Lets take a step back . Did you have the problem before you changed the fluid and filter ?
The transmission needs to be warmed up . With this said , are you checking the fluid in park with the engine running ?

i had an issue about 3 months ago with odd shifting but was quickly solved by adding transmission fluid. since then there was no problem. i then noticed how dark the fluid was (deep burgundy vs. the bright red) and decided to change the filter and fluid. i since then have let warmed up before taking off. mostly ok now but every once in a awhile it has a quick glitch. but yes i checked when it was warmed up and while on in park
