Any downsides to driving in 4 vs. D for around town/non highway travel? Is worse for the transmission as in potential damage or extra wear?

One thing I've noticed is that the engine (v6) sure does lug a lot. I'm doing 40-45 and turning 1k or slightly higher RPMs. I find myself constantly hitting the gas to wake the motor up. Tried driving in 4 one morning on the way to work and it was so much better to drive. No lugging at all. RPMs doubled to around 2k, which I'm sure doesn't help gas consumption but it was so much smoother.

No harm in that, aside from consuming more fuel.

yup, nothing more than using more fuel. No extra harm or wear on anything.

Redline a day keeps the carbon away!

Seriously though, you wanna make sure your injectors stay clean, n cats blown out.... rev the bitch to rev limit here n there. Nothing has the cleaning power of a fuel rail at full pressure injectors at 100% duty cycle then all of them shutting off for a split second to turn back on to a rail with even higher pressure.

Would having 18" wheels magnify the lugging? I think stock size is 17" but mine came with special edition enke rims that are 18's. I wouldn't think 1" would make a big difference, but was thinking they might be throwing the shift points off slightly.
