Has anyone added the 'auto-unlock' to any other door handles? My driver side door has it (where you grab the handle and it unlocks the doors). The others do not. One of those things that I never knew I needed or missed until I had it...... never fails, I'm carrying one of our kids, or something else with the key shoved in my pocket or backpack. Reach for the handle and ...doh. That only works on the driver side door.

Just curious if anyone had already figured out how to add it to another door.

Toyota should have added it to the the passenger side too, but they didn't, so although complained on here, haven't heard of someone adding it. I don't think it's possible. Locked down by ECU, I'm thinking.

I'm assuming it's just a sensor of some sort that transmits on the same frequency as the key FOB and powered by 12v line. My hope at least...
But yes - it should be on ALL doors.

So let's just say you would need to replace another door handle with the same sensor as the driver's side. If that's not available for a Tacoma you are out of luck. Sorry, you are out of luck.

The passenger door handle on the rav4s work that way. That sucks the Tacoma's don't.

One of those “you can’t have your cake and eat it too” things.

My father-in-law’s land cruiser has it on the passenger side (and I believe both of the rear doors too) but he paid a hell of a lot more than $35k

You can program the truck settings to unlock all doors when pulling the drivers handle.

Yes i've done this on mine, but I still need to go to the driver's door, instead of walking closer to the door in the parking space I backed into to. I'd also like to open the wife's door for her on occasion, pushing the button works, but would be nice to just grab the handle. Is it too much to ask on a 50K vehcle?

Yea, most of Toyota other and lower priced cars have the sensors on both driver and passenger sides. Another way to rack in the cash.

You can use a Carista OBD2 device and subscribe to their app, this will allow you to change it so that when you touch the drivers door ALL doors unlock. You don’t have the sensors on the other door handles but at least you wouldn’t have to pull out your keys..
