Hi everyone I was wondering if there's a MOD available to make your electric door locks work automatically when you take the truck out of gear from P to D etc..I have a 2008 Scion XB which has this feature and it's pretty convenient when you have kids etc..Let me know what you think or if there's a MOD available Thanks.:D

my 05 does it, well not when i go into gear but after I start up and the doors are all closed. I don't know if it is because of my alarm cuz I had it put in right after I got the truck.
so maybe add an alarm? not totally cheap, but it's a win win

I wish I could program my locks to all unlock when the truck is put into park.

Or to have all 4 doors unlock with just one press of the remote 'unlock'.

Have you tried calling your dealer to ask if they can reprogram the system?

No not yet I've been thinking about it and thought someone might have done it already.

My alarm has this feature now. When truck turns on the lock and when i put it on park they unlock. One click of the remote and all four unlock. pretty cool

The fact that TacoGuy's alarm can bypass the stock programming leads me to believe it's possible. I would definitely be interested to hear what a dealer has to say.

Our Jeep Grand Cherokee is very programmible. That is the only thing I like about that vehicle

I'd pay to get it off my truck if I had it. I have it on my Mazda MPV and hate it.
    ...just my 2cents.
Anyway, it would be easy to install a relay that would be activated by depressing the brake pedal(brake light), which would give the power to the lock switch.

That would give the locks a pulse every time you press the brakes...that would wear stuff out real quick...

All you need is a pair of relays and a box to control them that has the inputs (like park switch) and logic you want. Many alarm systems have this functionality built in but the ones I have seen only use the ignition on/off logic (with a few second time delay on lock) to control the locks. It wouldn't be hard to have one use the park switch and maybe someone makes one like that but I've not seen it. Ignition on/off locks works just as well for me. If I ever want to get out with the motor running I just have to use the unlock buton. Pretty rare to need to do that. BTW, the auto lock feature is mostly for anti-carjack. Could happen in a parking lot when you startup before you get rolling. So having the ignition contol locks is a little more security.

+1 I think this is a really easy mod, I'm just too lazy to think of it right now :p

Damned you're right! never thought of that...
Strike two: what about the relay already in your truck that locks it into the "Park" position. Since you have to press the brake pedal to get it out of park, that could activate a relay that could lock the doors......better I hope.
