Unfortunately, one of the things that I did not notice when I picked up my 2020 taco trd was that I did not have auto (switch from driving lights to nighttime headlights) on the light switch. It has “auto off” when you turn ignition off and lock the doors. I was wandering if anyone has tackled adding an auto change out. If it was as simple as a plug and play or more detailed. I’ve seen some complete replacement clusters you can buy for under $100.

I always hated this...it just burned my lights out earlier. I guess if you have the LED’s it may not be an issue???

I did extensive testing of this with my 2017 and couldn't make it work. The only difference in the wiring is the lack of the wiring for the light sensor. So I added that sensor in the right speaker area and it's wiring. I that resulted in the dash display (Multi-information display) dimming by the new sensor instead of just responding to the headlights. However the headlights did not respond. I rechecked the diagrams and even swapped the switch for the one with the Auto label and still nothing. I also checked all possible setting available in Techsteam and could not find a way to enable the auto lights. (This was necessary on a Ford I has added auto lights to). Best I could figure out the BCM must be reprogramed (Beyond Techsteam settings) or replaced with one from a truck equipped with auto lights.

Auto headlights are convenient, but I don't care to have them or not. The auto high beams, however...those are awesome (when they work right).

I have auto lights on my 2018 and love them. I had a registration sticker blocking the sensor for a while that made them always on. Changing the sensitivity in the setting helped but I eventually got the sticker moved over.

SR5 equipped with Auto Headlamps from the factory? I thought the only way you can get Auto Headlights are with the TRD Premium packages?

Mine has the auto headlights. The only thing I don’t like about them on the Tacoma is that they don’t turn on automatically when you have the windshield wipers turned on. I got used to that on my last car and now I constantly don’t think to turn them on when it’s raining.

My sr5 access cab was ordered from one of the bigger toyota dealers, even came with crawl control. Its pretty loaded with options i wanted, and some options i didn't need that i had to take. Still getting use to all it has.

You dont have Crawl Control unless you have an Automatic Off Road or Pro.
