Automatic Shift knob replace?

Has anyone replaced their automatic shift knob with aftermarket? Can it be unscrewed to be replaced?

now that is coooool, I like the 44 MAG idea.
Few questions, are they lefty loosie, and righty tighty, (dumb I know but hey). And is the threads your standard set up, or will an adapter need to be used.

 

yep....lefty loosey, righty tighty, and they are metric threads if i remember correctly.

Is there different sizes no worry about when purchasing one. Maybe smaller threads? If the knob is for manual shifting knob will they fit?

 

i cant say for sure, but im almost positive that they have the same threads!

just for the heck of it I went out and gave mine a turn to see if it would come off. What a joy to find out it was a easy removal, at least something is going right today.

 

before my dad died....we were going to turn one in his wood shop out of ebony....it would have been cool. i may still do that for my 4x4 shifter in my 04, since the auto shifter doesnt come off.

 

now that is a great idea, and I would go for it.
I am going to do some looking to see if I can find or come up with something that is off the wall.
I have a few heavy mass sheds laying around, may even try something with one of those.
Give it that hunter touch

 

now.......a shed antler knob would be awesome!!!

 

Hmm.... we're going to the Corvettes at Carlisle show this weekend. If I could find a C6 Z06 manual shifter knob for cheap - I'd put it in the taco.
