Sup boys, just installed the automatic tailgate lock on my truck. 2 weird things. 1 there was no harness that ran parallel to my truck to attach the tailgate harness too. I ended up zip tying it to the frame all the way down. 1, is that okay? And 2 after reinstalling the tailgate there is a rattle when shutting. If i keep my hand on the top part as i shut it no rattle. Any solutions or thoughts on this? Thank you

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Was this the OEM lock?
When you say "automatic" do you mean that it locks & unlocks with the key fob?

I picked up an OEM harness for my 22 short bed, came with metal zip ties and foil wrapped wires for near exhaust, haven't installed yet will wait for spring

You got it from a dealer? Part number to match?

I did my own and had the harness which I believe is for the a combo of the sensors in the bumper tech package, and possibly the tow lighting wiring bundle. It goes down the passenger side the harness if present should be there. Did you watch any install vids? Lots of metal zip ties that’s for sure. I’d take the tailgate apart and see what the rattle is and make sure the mechanism is secure and nothing fell in there.

I bought the Chinesium one on SCAMAZON @ $60 for my Longbed and it had the foil and metal and plastic zip ties. Was missing the pushnut, so I substituted a cotter pin. Love the sound of it locking

Ahhh makes more sense, mines a 2016 so no harness for the bumper i suppose. But yeah I watched them all and they all have that harness that runs back there but I guess since mines 2016 i dont have it. So i zip tied it to the frame all the way back. It’s secured and tight but just wanted to be sure.

And about the rattle its super weird. Everything is secure and tight in the tailgate so good there. I took the tailgate back off and shut it without it and had no rattle. Screwed the tailgate back in. It’s mainly on the left hand side of the tailgate that rattles a bit when you slam it shut. But if you have your hand against the top left firmly and shut it it does not make that noise

Do you have a backup camera? I had a number of harnesses to ziptie to, since I have aux lights and a cap, so there is a ton of sleeved copper wire running the length of my truck

I do but that one ran over the gas tank so I didn’t really have access to it. So basically From the passenger side I ran it right to the frame and used the holes on the frame and zip tied to the frame all the way back. It looks clean and everything works but I posted on here to see if there were any objections to that
