Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? When I slowly accelerate my 2013 up to 50 kms when the truck is cold it is like I push on the clutch(if I had one) the revs go up then the truck jumps forward as the gear engages.

What have you checked to try and alleviate the problem ?
Whats the mileage ? Have you taken the truck in to a transmission shop for a " FREE " diagnostic and road test ?
A better description of your issue would help ....What gear are you in when this happens . Does it also occur in reverse when cold ?
Any lights popping up on the dash ? The computer in your truck can see when the transmission is slipping .
Do you have a scanner or scanguage ?
Dont want to jump the gun here but from your explanation http://www.sonnax.com/parts/1774 . This would have to be diagnosed and all other possibilities ruled out before this conclusion could be made . I would like to see the SLT solenoid commanded on and off while cold for a better diagnosis

FYI the auto trans will not shift into 5th lockup until it reaches a certian temp. So it will stick in 4th / 5th unlocked to heat it up quicker. So you say it only happens when cold this is why.

Assuming the trans warmed up enough to achieve lock up for the first time during this ignition cycle .

Sometimes my transmission gets funky when dunbasses brake down a hill for no reason.... Then it can't decide which gear. It downshifts hard, then on the way up accelerating, it holds it for too long, shoots way into the rpms and shifts hard..... But only when braking down hills because of dumbasses

I doubt your issue and the OP,s issue are related but if you start your own thread , I am sure we could figure out why this is happening

It doesn't bother me too much, I just figure it's the ECU trying to figure which gear.

My shit has sucked since new. I've brought it to the dealer a couple times but they tell me it's normal. Same thing....I'll hit the gas and nothing really happens or it leaps forward. It'll also sometimes coast downhill and othertimes it'll downshift and throw me forward like I hit the brakes. The trans is so unpredictable that it's legit scary. But they keep telling me everything is normal.

2015, 4k miles on it. Waaaaay worse when AC is on. Users have told me to swap the trans fluid but I haven't had time yet.

This is how the trans is supposed to act. Its an "active" transmission and trys to be in the proper gear for you. If you want to upshift move the selector from D to 4 back to D, and this will bring it up one gear at a time from its downshifted state. If you want to go straight from w/e gear its in back to 5th "coasting" go D to N back to D.

Thanks gearcruncher and everyone for your tips. I am taking it in tomorrow to the dealership and I will have them check the fluid level. My truck is 2 1/2 years old with only 23,000 kms, as to what gear am I in, it is an automatic and I am just coming up to 50kph when it shifts. No it doesn't happen in reverse and no lights on dash. Will let you know what happens tomorrow at dealership. Thanks again to all for your help.

You can move it around as you wish while driving.... obviously dont go throwing it in reverse or park if you are moving.

The ECU will not let you put the truck in 1st at 70mph.

Thank you Gearcruncher, I printed off what you posted and took them to the dealership and had them test the truck. They found that the trans fluid was low???? they also found that there was an outstanding software update for ECU ,update ECM software. He told me there was no recall but it has to be asked for. Thanks to all who posted as I would never have been able to steer them in the right direction to fix the problem. Thanks again to all.

Whenever the dealer reprograms the ECU , they are supposed to place a sticker under the hood indicating the ECM software they added to fix your problem . I am assuming it was
This flash and please correct me if I am wrong
    [IMG]T-SB-0044-14.pdf Ping fix !
Could you stick your nose under the hood and confirm that this was the ecm update the dealer used to get your truck shifting properly again . Its going to help others in your same situation . I thought about this tsb when you explained your problem but needed more info from you before I came to this conclusion .This problem is always explained by the best that owners know how to explain it and all members here explain the problem differently .
From what I can gather you had two issues . Low on oil and rough shifting into 5th and lock up
I jumped the gun in my original post but didnt know the mileage or history on your truck .
With this said , at least you have a fix with your 2013 on the first converter lock up in the morning . My 2010 acts similar but there is no flash to fix the problem .
All we can ask is if you could please post the calibration update they used to fix your problem . Maybe there is a new ECM update that we dont know about .

Op. If you run transmission for long time with low oil, there is probably some damage to it. Ask for extended warranty.
Do you know if there was a leak or something that caused it?

You know you probably have low fluid too.

Yes, that is EXACTLY what it feels like and I took it into the dealership several weeks ago and told them that it feels like the fluid is low. I'm no stranger to cars/trucks and modify on the regular but haven't had the time to play around with my new truck... Anyway, they said they hooked up the truck and checked the fluid level and the computer said it's fine.

I ended up getting a new transmission on warranty even though it was after it was up. I had been complaining since it was still on warranty and the service manager finally put a new one in.
