That's because they can't post in a thread already made of this issue. They start a new thread so it brings out the same old naysayers to make sure they get their punches in like Smitty99 for a good example.

The AT Transmission is fine, the shifting logic is F!@#$% up. It shifts fine manually, but Toyota can't get the shifting logic right

Ok so took my 2017 SR5 base unit into my dealer complaining about auto tranny shift to issue. Guys we're greate by claimed NPF/ no prplem found. They gave be a sheet that shows the readout from the 'Computer' and it basically states that all software is up to date.
I asked the service guy to take it on the freeway and up some inclines. Says he did with the service tech along side in another car. Still no problem found. Oy!
I've had the truck back just since Friday afternoon but Best is in S mode, and the beast does come out in manual mode. Should have gotten the manual shift? Truck has only 1280 miles. Let see what updates are released between now and my 5k service.....

This is the most annoying part. I absolutely hate my transmission anywhere other than in town. My cruise is basically useless because of that. Even on flat it'll just get stuck in slow gear and sit at redline until I turn it off. It was really nice on my recent 14 hour drive.

To note: I think most of drivability issues are because I run 35's without regearing. The cruise still sucks though.

    Probably not at redline.....

35s don't help especially when cruise is designed to maintain speed, not gear.

Would you like me to take a picture for you? It's not bouncing off the rev limiter. But it's right around 5500-5750. Redline is 6000. But hey it's my truck what do I know.

I had the cruise issue with 33's too. Stock size I can't remember.

Yeah, make a movie and post it of your truck trying to maintain speed with cruise control with 35s and without a regear at highway speeds.

    See what happens here.

My reading comprehension is perfect, I also understand how cruise works and when to use it. You're bitching because yours doesn't shift up in cruise when trying to drive a 35 inch tire when geared for a 30.

A pic doesn't mean anything, a movie tells the tale as the truck struggles to maintain speed. Once up for review by the peanut gallery you might indeed find out what you know (or don't) about your truck.

Has anyone had problem with highway speeds 75 mph + and high rpm's. I recently took a trip and my truck stayed around 3400 rpm's. seems high to me even though I have 285's on my truck. My old 2nd gen with 6" lift and 33" tires didn't have this problem stayed around 2400 rpm no problem at speeds. Does the transmission flash update fix this issue for anyone that has done that?

    Closing my loop on this....

All new automatic transmissions suck and I totally blame my wife for pushing into this automatic. Should have gone with the manual....
That all said, with the software updates in place I am doing OK in Drive, even better in S mode. Using the trans like a manual is ok, but careful on the down shifts.

I've had my truck at the dealer, 4wheel parts and a third local shop and this is the general consensus.

I have added a magnaflow exhaust, and after much contemplation I am adding a TRD CAI.

That's it! I am done with this issue! ...and am looking for a early model jeep!

The shifting logic is pretty trash for 2nd gen also. This is not a new rodeo for Toyota. The problem is they are putting less time and care (as well as pride) into designing these vehicles and the bottom line to them has become more centered around revenue before quality that will not keep coming back to the dealership to have TSB's performed under warranty.

You know, sort of like Chevrolet.
