I was big into the Audi/VW scene for a while. Crank the volume on this video.

Is this showing as a link or the video?

8-1 equal length header

Pulse scavenging done perfect!!! (normally with both banks of the motor separated until after the y pipe further down the line you don't get the pulse scavenging happening in the firing order) So much work though as you can see and having to run the pipes over the motor... I only wish there was a sound clip :pout: 8-1 headers sound amazing!

Think of the exhaust as pulses, each piston firing, with the gases flowing equal distance you get a much smoother flow of exhaust gases. This keeps the exhaust velocity up and is supposed to give you better power as you essentially flow more air faster and a motor is just an air pump.

It's a nice way to squeeze out more power from NA motors and give a smoother power band and it is an awesome way to decrease spool time on turbos.

Least that's my understanding. I'm sure Marc has a more technical answer.

It helps a lot. Same reason there are tons of equal length turbo manifolds

    Looks like a fun V6 charlie g!!

Having an 8-1 header Ben makes the pulses mesh together better at the collector, in theory the pulses never slam into each other (because it's closer to the source where the pulses are shorter in length) like they do at a traditional y-pipe further back after the pulses have spread out/grown in length.

If you have the correct diameter tubing you can get a somewhat laminar flow as well. Which as you know flows much better than any turbid flow.

What the 8 into 1 header does that is so cool is it keeps the pulses in order of the firing order. So when they hit the collector and go into one pipe they are sequential pulses in order of firing order. In simple terms, it just allows the gasses to escape the engine as efficient as possible. it's a big market for subarus. Cough Cough Josh :D

Explained it a few ways there but hopefully you get it now. :goingcrazy: for URD to finish the equal lengths for the 12+ tacos...

Sound like your typical honduh ricer on the streets after the install of the equal length header. Not that the unequal length sounds any better considering it sounds like it run on 3 cylinders

His exhaust choice isn't my favorite either. The single exit style exhausts generally have a more raspy sound to them as it is.
