The real question will be how it fares against the sti/wrx and evo.

Well considering the new wrx is heavy and slower than the old one I think it's out of the question.

Also the subaru AWD platform can only spit power up to 40/60

If the price isn't stupid, I'm going to have to put a Focus RS in my garage. I've been looking for a fun, fast, and practical car for the past couple of years, and this may finally be it.
The STi is too long in the tooth and keeps getting duller with no improvements in performance. The Evo is too boy racer/douchey for me plus it's not practical for what I need.
Now with the Focus RS and rumors that the Civic Type R will also come to the US, it's definitely a good time to be a car enthusiast in the small car segment after years of waiting for something exciting and with some actual performance.

Maybe. I feel like they would have had a fair share of the market though if they had brought it sooner

I think it would have perhaps been lost in the noise while the STi and Evo were still popular, sort of like what happened with the Mazdaspeed 3.
It was actually pretty smart of Ford to bring out the Fiesta and Focus ST, and then now the RS. Hopefully manufacturers have realized that the market has bounced back and that people still want to buy performance cars in the lower segments and not just 50-60k upmarket cars.

It's the same platform as the ecoboost stang just awd.
The focus rs was developed for rally, i wouldnt call it a beefed up economy car at all. The fist is more of a beefed up economy car than anything

Heck why not throw in a C6 Vette if you're cross-shopping a Mustang vs. a Focus RS? Completely different types of cars for different purposes.

not sure if anyone has posted anything from Hot Rod Garage/ Roadkill series on youtube but the guys from Hot Rod magazine like to make big muscle. Other cool shows like Ignition(240sx ls3 swap), and Dirt Every Day all found on the Motortrend channel.
