Just about a year. I received my truck in Feb of 2015, had it installed within a month of ownership. Last winter was mild enough I rarely used it. This winter it has been extremely convenient. I have had compustar remote starters in three vehicles prior to this truck.

Viper alarm with remote starter available via key fobs and their smart start which allows you to use your smart phone as a key fob from anywhere as long as both you and the car are in phone service areas. Had it installed in 2011 and love it.

Agreed. I love the idea of these. But my state doesn't have the best cell reception in remote areas.

Good deal. I like what I am hearing. I am just a little leary of letting someone splice into my wires but it should be alright. This guy has over 25 years experience.

My fobs have a considerably long range and the newer models are even better. I imagine that if someone smarter than me looked into it, they could sort out some type of antenna mod that extended it even further.

I did an add-on Excalibur to the factory keyless. Works great for me. Reception is good. I use it daily. I like being able to start the engine a minute or two before driving regardless of outside weather.

I use to have viper 5706v but had 3 remotes fail within 1.5 years. So I switched to compustar 901 lcd, also easier to set for manual transmission mode.
At our shop we only install viper because it most cost effective.

Installer was supposed to call me and set up install yesterday... I haven't heard a word from him.. Doesn't make me feel real confident. Will have to look elsewhere for it.

$350 for android controlled remote. Pretty decent price. Everywhere else is 450 plus
