My 2009 Toyota Tacoma has an auxiliary port but I can’t find a button to turn it on to play music... am I missing something or do I just not have an aux option?

    Welcome!
That's odd, there should be a button labeled AUX. Post a picture of the stereo and aux port.

Mine had a Disc/Aux button right next to FM2. I’m guessing it went to Aux if there was no disc or if you cycle it past any discs that were in the stereo. I don’t remember because I never used it.

Is it integrated into the Tune knob somehow? No idea why yours is different than the one I pulled out of my ‘09.

No when I press the button on the tune knob it changes the sound settings, bass, treble, fader, etc.... super weird.

Seems like you have an older model headunit in a newer truck. The picture above is what the 2009-2011 headunits look like. 2005-2008 look like yours and lack aux capabilities

I forget when Toyota intagrated the aux input I think it was 09+. With that said all the trucks with the aux have the option in the “disc” button but it usually says “disc/aux”. I think what may have happened, if you bought the truck used, is that the OG owner had an aftermarket head unit they may have taken out when they sold the truck and swapped it with a pre 09 stock head unit.

I would take the head unit out and see if the aux cable is connected to anything.

I think these guys nailed it. Previous owner took out his aftermarket and installed an eBay OEM before trading it in.

Gotcha thank y’all for the feedback. I’ll probs just wind up replacing the whole radio at some point anyway but figured I’d try to figure out why it wasn’t workin.

I installed an aftermarket aux into my same head unit as OP’s into the external 6 disc changer port, so to turn on the aux I have to hit the disc button again and it just says 0:00 when music is playing. Perhaps previous owner did that too...
