Seems like an explosively good idea. I think Ford thought it was also a great idea in the Pinto

It'll take a bit of work on your end, but you can try this kit from JD Fabrication. Seems pretty straight forward but you'll have to source the gas tank or fuel cell, whatever you choose.

A lot of vehicles had fuel tanks in the rear and didn't have problems. That was a Pinto problem.

I have a BIL that found one in a scrapyard that would work on his 1982 F150. He bolted it in and ran the fuel filler behind the license plate which he mounted spring loaded. He wired his up to pump fuel from the auxiliary tank into his main tank after it got low. It worked pretty well for him.

He still has that truck but hasn't driven it in about 20 years.

I wonder if that’s compatible with archive hammer hangers lots of folks already have and high clearance cross tube.

I’m guessing hangers yes cross tube no. Which sounds fine because that tank kit looks like it braces the same way the cross tube would.

I'm not sure about that. You may be able to fabricate a custom cross tube to route around the tub. I was on the fence about doing the JD fab kit but I already have the LRA extended range fuel tank so it may be a bit much for my purposes. I haven't written it off completely yet though but it's not priority currently.
