auxiliary fuse block location help

Greetings,

I've searched all over using "blue sea auxiliary fuse block" and still have not found an answer to my questions. If it has already been answered on this forum, or an outside one for that matter, kindly point me in the right direction.

To cover what I'm working with, I have a 2013 Access Cab TRD OR 4x4. I am looking at installing an auxiliary Blue Sea fuse block and 100 amp breaker for future electrical additions. I currently have a Viair system standing by to be installed when I have the time and it moves up the list of things to do. The compressor in the system has a 19 AMP max draw. I plan on running a number of different LED lights in the future as well and a 12V fridge. As a note, I do plan on running the IBS dual battery system sometime in the future with potentially mounting the auxiliary battery in the rear of my cab somewhere hidden under my platform.

Now, I know the most common and simplest method of mounting these items is under the hood just above the existing fuse panel. What I am looking to do is mount the fuse panel and breaker in the rear of the cab. Being an Access Cab, I have removed the rear seats and made a platform for transporting dogs and gear. I've had the rear panel off before and that seems to be a good location to do a clean install with everything covered up and protected neatly. The final location is still up in the air though. I want to place it where I can best use the factory grommet holes to run some of the wire.

My question is, besides the extra work and potential cost of cable, is there any reason NOT to mount it inside the cab? Looking at the many other setups everyone seems to be running 4 AWG wire. Would that be sufficient if I were to run it from the battery to the rear of my cab or should I go one size larger? Also, would the breaker be okay in the cab near the fuse block or does it need to be near the battery?

I would prefer to run the thick gauge wire from front battery to the rear cab (6-10 feet maybe) then have the fuse block centrally located to run all accessories. I hope this makes sense and someone can help me out with this. If I left out any crucial information that may assist in getting an answer please let me know. Thanks.

I dont see a problem with it. I think I would keep the breaker close to the battery though, this way if the big cable wears through and shorts out on something, it will trip.

 

I have a 2008 Access Cab and I'm interested in mounting an auxiliary fuse box in the cab, but I was looking at doing it in the driver's foot well or in the center console under the cup holders.

I'd like to see your set-up.
