Auxiliary gas set up. (Help me design)

I am wanting to add 5 gallons of capacity to my 2016. I would like some type of a transfer flow type set up where all I have to do is flip a switch to get the extra gas to transfer directly into my main tank. Any body have suggestions on where to start?

And before I get flamed from all the big city kids, no there is not a gas station every 50 miles where I live. I like to take long overland style trips and a 21 gallon tank at 17 mpg does not cut it.

 

OP, I have done a ton of driving. Sections of Wyoming, areas north of Minot North Dakota and the West praires of Saskatchewan; have very limited gas stations. In blizzard and white out conditions gas is precious.

I would also like an auxilliary solution beside my 2 gas containers.

I'm not familiar with the term slip tank. What is this?

 

You can add a marine tank to the bed, or if you've already relocated the spare tire under the rear frame. One of the overland blogs did an aux tank using a Trooper tank in the rear.

I'd add 15 or 20 gallons thought. It's a shitload of work for only 5 gallons. Probably easier to carry a gas tank and funnel.

 

There's a place in Bend that's been making ~35 gallon tanks for 2nd gens, I'm thinking about going that route. An auxiliary transfer tank would be pretty slick though. The Taco's pitiful range, especially with off road overland driving is it's biggest shortcoming.

 

An auxiliary gas tank mounted in the bed for fuel purposes only. They are used alot up here in the oil patch to fuel diesel equiptment throughout the day or the bosses truck that stays runnin 24/7. Deffinetly a solution for you.

My idea behind only 5 gallons was the size. I really don't want to loose bed space as the DCSB is limited in this capacity.

Nice idea, going to be expensive though.

Bed space is the reason I don't have an aux tank yet.

Even with the long bed, I still fill it too often. Eventually I'll go the under frame route, and move the spare.

 

Holy Gas Tank Batman! That is some amazing welding. Unfortunately I do not have the welding skills or the funds to build a tank like that. Cool though.

My attempt in doing this is to gain 5-10 gallons of capacity without loosing bed space. I have always had 6-foot bed on my Toyotas so I am feeling cramped with space in this DCSB. I'd like to find some type of tank that I can mount underneath the bed somewhere. Maybe I'm not being realistic but there could be an option out there.

 

Sounds like a California liberal Law. I'll check regs here but not too worried about it.

There's a thread here somewhere detailing an install with one of these and a double fuel pump setup to fill/empty it from the main tank.
