I am about to order a 30" LED light bar and 2 LED cube lights for my 2017 SR5. It has an aftermarket bumper that has openings for these lights, and most of the original bumper and the fog lights are removed (previous owner had an off-road shop do all this). I think I saw the wires/plugs hanging behind the grille that were for the factory fog lights. I want to know if the factory fog lights turn on automatically with the headlights, or are they separate?
Because I want to know if I can use those wires for the LED lights. But I want separate switches for the light bar, and the lower cube lights, so I have the option of turning just the headlights on without auxiliary lights. The easiest way to do this, please correct me if I'm wrong, I'll just have 2 separate harnesses (one for light bar, one for pair of cube lights) both connected to the battery so they can turn on with ignition off?
Also, I want to figure out where I should place the 1 or 2 switches for these lights. I saw Tacoma-specific illuminated light switches for the dash, on Amazon, that say they fit in the unused button/switch locations, which my Tacoma has. What's the best way to cut these out to mount the switch? If I don't want to cut into the dash, what would be a good/clean setup to go with?
