The auxillary electric functions come back on after parking. I leave the truck and everything is turned off, and come back and the radio is on.

I assume its a problem with the ignition key cylinder, or a relay. Would appreciate suggestions from those who may have seen something similar.

    Thanks,

    Mike

If you're not the original owner of the truck, I would be very weary that a PO may have done something to wire the aux to be always on. It's more common than you might assume. Either way I'd take the trim off and start looking around at the wiring.

Without knowing just how things are wired no way to tell the cause of your issue.

Something is allowing the radio to power up you just need to find the cause.

i had a truck that turned the day time running lights on at random

I am the original owner. I did take the dash apart to replace a bulb in the instrument panel, but that was a decade ago, and this behavior just started happening. I never intentionally did anything to cause that circuit to be always on.

You still have the original radio? You return to the truck the radio is powered up playing what you listened to last?

At any time was an Alarm added? Remote start?

Rodents chomping wires ? Physical damage in the radio shorting the preset power supply to input power.

The electrical part of the ignition switch could fail but I have never seen that happen.

You are able to remove the ignition key from the lock cylinder

When I bought the truck, I had an aftermarket alarm put on. The FOB was problematic, so I just quit using it. Its been in the circuit unused for at least 10 years. I think this may be the culprit. Does not have remote start though.

Its the factory radio, and I don't think its a rodent issue. I can't pull the key out of the ignition when its in "ACC" mode. I turn it off all the way, pull the key, and at some later time, it turns back on.

As I look more into this, I'm thinking I just need to take the unused alarm system out of the picture.

The fact some thing changes to power the radio with the switched power off.

Is the interesting part just how it is effecting the radio .

Any paper work with your alarm? Does the Alarm tripping also power up the radio?

If so just what causes the alarm to trip?

Good luck I am waiting to hear how this plays out
