Avec Switch Wiring Help

This is what I have, 30" avec bar and a harness. Hooked everything up the way I thought it should go...... Connected light bar to the red and black wires, Grounded the black on the fender beside the battery and hooked the red to the battery. Then ran the switch wires to the cab and connected the switch.

The switch, when in the off position has a red light that stays on. Is there a way to turn that off?

I would like to have it so I can turn it on and off whenever I want.

From what I've searched all I have to do is disconnect the black wire going into the switch. Does this sound right?

Took out the black wire contact in the switch plug on the switch side and works like I want.
