My truck had just the belt done at a dealer for $600 right before I bought it a few years back. Invoice I got from the previous owner had a "special" price on it. I'd say if you want to add a oem waterpump and pulley expect around $800 - $1000

If you're having a shop do it I would count on anywhere in the $600 - $1000+ range depending on the shop. Probably double that if you're looking at a dealership (don't).

I paid about $800 to have a shop I trust do it in 2020 right when covid hit. I supplied the kit.

I ended up going with a reputable shop in Tigard and got charged $1,450. That included (Aisin Parts) Timing Belt, Water Pump, Idler Pulleys, Tensioner Drive Belt-Alternator and Water Pump, Drive Belt”-Power steering, Drive belt- Air Conditioning and Idler Hose Clamp and Coolant Toyota Long Life. I had gotten a quote for Toyota and they quoted $2,700

The Asin kit itself isn't an OEM kit but a lot of people go with it, the PO put that kit in my 3rd gen 4runner and it's held up well. For all the parts and labor that's about what I'd expect the cost to be today, maybe a little high for an aftermarket kit but still.

yeah never take these older trucks to a dealership for anything. The illusion that a Toyota dealer will do any better than an independent shop is just that, an illusion (delusion more like it). Dealerships are for warranty work on new vehicles only, imo. And for getting parts. But I wouldn't pay them to do any work on these older trucks.

They don't get trained to work on them, they get trained to work on what they're selling now and they are world's apart from what we're driving. End up paying 2 - 3x what a competent independent shop would charge

This^^ I have done it twice on my 99. $299 seems really cheap at the dealer...

that was a quote from 2012 and even then I have a hard time believing a timing belt job was just $299 back then. Maybe they were just quoting him the cost of parts or labor, but both? That would be a crazy good deal even for 10+ years ago
