    It all depends what state you live in. Also, just being a medic working for an ambulance service won't pay much regardless of where you live. Your best bet is to try to get into the fire service as these days most states operate both together...fire/ems. But again, it all depends on what state you live in. I've know certain areas of the country top out pay for fr/pm is 48k to mid 50's. Where I'm at, it is significantly higher. Cost of living where I'm at is also higher so that comes into play.
    If you have no aspirations of being a firefighter, I'd look into nursing. You can always find work and even relocate fairly easy. Good luck....

    Over here starting out could be 32k for EMT or 38k for medic. It all depends on where you are at rural vs big city. Bigger the city the more you make but also the more you work for that pay also.
