Heres a pic of me with "Witchraft" in 2004 pryor to it being painted in the witchcraft scheme.

Just before I flew on "Witchcraft" last october, I was doing some research on the plane and didnt even realize that it was the same plane 11 yrs earlier.

Prior to "The dragon and it's tail" paint scheme, it was painted "All american".

Here's a very short clip of the bombadiers position in Witchcraft. It's below the cockpit and you literally had to crawl on your hands and knees to get there.
Gave me chills thinking of all the brave men catching flak in the air in these things.
As Weesa and Justin can attest... these bombers look huge and protected but infact are very thin, tiny, cramped areas.

The walkway between the rear of the plane thru the bombay is litterally the width of your shoe.

And here is the rear waist gunner position.
This is where my Grandfather stood at :06 as right waist gunner across from his friend Loyce Ely.

yup. teeny tiny in there. I had trouble navigating through the plane - well, i had my camera around my neck to deal with too - and i'm not exactly a huge person
this is the photo i got of the passage up to the nose. i think i'd have trouble squeezing my 5'6 /140 body through there

How did you manage that? It's out almost every night once it starts getting dark again.

I've never seen it from the ground. Last year we saw some but they were very faint and we were not positive of what we were seeing until I used the camera to capture the light and then we could clearly see that the lights were out. Over the years I have probably seen them a half dozen times, maybe a few more. There are forecasts that will show when the activity is expected and where you can see it. http://gi.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast

I had hoped to see some more last night but we ended up chasing the sun to the west.

Also, always have the camera available for when you do see them. It is one of the spectacular sights we get lucky to see with this job.
