I tan into two other Cardinals yesterday. Today it’s windy as beans and I flew backwards. 60kt headwind against 43ias hanging by the prop. That was fun

Just found out today that our 182 was totaled about 3 weeks ago in a hailstorm, airport never notified us.
Monday dad is going to go talk to the airport and access the damage.

Just posted this in another thread but this is applicable too. Stumbled across a CH-53 and CH-46 (long live the Phrogs) out in the desert of SoCal. The 46 had engine problems and set down. The Marines spent a cold night in the desert with their bird. The next day the 53 brought out parts and tools to do some wrenching on the 46. They let me do a walk through of both even though, or maybe because, I'm a former jarhead.

Here's some more. I have a special relationship with this aircraft at Fox Field out in Lancaster. Even though it is configured as a KC-97 records indicate it only flew in the Air Guard as a C-97. My father flew this aircraft and my mother flew aboard it as a flight nurse. Gives me chills just typing that as she passed away over ten years ago. Last year I found this in my dad's logbooks. He flew this to Vietnam on several occasions, not to mention other places like Hawaii. These were majestic, yet little remembered, aircraft which served both commercial and military service.

Im pretty disappointed because I flew a lot in that plane growing up, several trips from San Diego to Laurel Ms and lots of flying around San Diego but we were getting ready to sell it anyway, it needed a lot of maintenance to be airworthy and dad wants both a kit fox and rans 21 because he’s working on building a private strip on our land so he can fly to his hearts content when he retires in 8 years.

    Love these shots.

Tonight I flew to the next town over and had dinner delivered to the airport. That was the most convenient thing I’ve ever done! 12 minute flight or 25 minute drive.
