Yeah, I'm sure it's not cheap. I think the school (Summit) only allows instruction and not solo in theirs and the club requires 15hrs tailwheel time to fly the Husky. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get to 15 unless I need that much instruction.

Yikes, that's like 90 touch and goes in the pattern. What else is there to learn in a tail dragger outside the pattern?

Most of the pattern work will be in one of several grass or gravel strips in the area. I'm sure it will be fun, but I hope there's a better way to reach 15hrs than just through instruction.

This is one of the club 182s I fly and the Legend Cub I will be learning in and some of the strips around here:

Some more of the local strips I'll be learning on:

The 15 hours just turns into play time with a CFI in the other seat

Yeah. I figure if nothing else we fly to some of the farther off strips and just eat up time. Gastins in the cub will take awhile to get there.

That would be a bit of a haul, haha. You’ll love visiting the grass strips in the area. I have had the Cardinal in several of them, but I’m limited on the ones I can safely take off from

Yeah I've been into some around here. Even took a 152 into Trigger Gap a few times. Getting out was sketchy.

Try to perform a "Scandi Flick" in a taildragger, and you'll unlock a bonus level with your CFI.

Stomp a pedal really hard and see if you can make the wing/rotor tip touch the ground.

Nah, its a rally maneuver where before a turn you steer out then cut in to induce oversteer and kick the tail out. Super fun once you get it right, but you WILL piss your pants a few times as you get the hang of it.

If you're ever in Snoqualmie, WA, these guys are a blast:

    Nope, Scandinavian flick
“The Scandinavian flick, Finnish flick, pendulum turn, or Scandi flick[1] is a technique used in ice racing and rallying. The technique induces oversteerusing weight transfer to carry a vehicle through a turn while simultaneously reducing speed.[2]

Edit: Conner beat me to it.

Would you also be interested in how to effectively ram your HAM antenna into a garage door overhead? Cuz I'm an expert at that too!

I'm going to ask my CFI if I can do a ground loop on the first day or if I have to wait.

Just had lunch from a friend of mine back when I worked in aviation mfg. Reminded me of a funny anecdote from my old boss who didn't work out and got let go shortly after. I suspect this had something to do with it:

If your boss, finance head of an $100M+ aerospace company, spells a product line "Bowing Apachy" for a slide deck, you know you're doomed.
