    Cool!

Pic of said window just because cool airplane stuff. Not bad for 1 $5 raffle ticket. It has the specs and fleet size of Uniteds Airbus fleet at the time, and that's a piece of skin its mounted to, definitely something I'll keep for life as a reminder of my time there. Name covered up so I dont get doxxed like the ATC dude :D

We use seltzer water on the line, because that’s what we have handy. Or I just call ops and whine.

Prepping to start in August, have my Med Exam set up.

All I have left to do is to buy a headset.

I’m fine with the ones the school recommends:
    https://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/david-clark-h10-13-4-headset.html
    or
    https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/air3500.php

but I’ve had serious head/neck/spine injuries in the Marines and can get neck aches and head aches from wearing head gear for long hours.

Any recommendations on what would be the lightest weight (and least tight/uncomfortable). I don’t care at all about budget so much as practicality. I don’t need any fancy high tech features. Don’t need any bells and whistles. Just as lightweight and comfortable as possible.

I can push through head/neck aches but would rather not when I start flying a plane with an instructor’s life (and someday other passenger’s) next to me!

What (over ear) headset do y’all find to be the most comfortable/light weight as possible?

    87 fuel added as needed.

Shoot me a message if you'd like to sort out a headset - I have two David Clarkes that I'd like to help fund my training...They just got refurbed from DC and have zero time on them...

Totally sucks. My dad was one of the first captains for American Airlines' 747s. I have lots of old manuals from his time as a check airman with Eva Air after he retired from AA.

I have seen Plexus Plastic Cleaner or Prist Windshield Cleaner used at a lot of places. You should be able to find one at a local pilot shop. For a piece that small though, I would stop by a local maintenance shop at an airport and ask them. Bring the window in so they can see it. Most likely they will spray it and clean it up for you for free or a simple donation to their "coffee fund."

I always wanted to go work there over the summer when I worked for Atlantic. I used to work there a few weeks a winter when they needed help. Cool airport! I dont know if I posted it here or not, but I was there one winter when the crank broke off a Malibu departing Aspen, the prop flew off and the guy dead sticked it back to the field and landed it. Fucking crazy! I'll dig up the pics of it.

Wow. Impressive! There aren't good engine-out choices for that airport

I've always been told to buy the headset with the highest NRR you can afford. Modern medicine can do a lot, but still lacking in the hearing department. If you notice all the older pilots at the airport all suffer hearing loss from the early days in their careers operating loud equipment with poor hearing protection.

Personally, I fly with the Bose A20s and have been since they hit the market and the Bose X before that... It works great in every airplane I fly and some days I wear them for 10 hours without discomfort. Then again, headsets are like hats or shoes. They don't fit everyone the same way.

Flight training has an 80% drop out rate, and students often go nuts buying gear when starting out then sell it when they stop training. Which means you can often get good deals on headsets and such through Ebay, Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, etc.

I see a lot do the same here. Once they get the private, they let up, either due to money or just not enjoying it, or other hobbies. I’m committed to 100hrs/yr for proficiency.
