Hey guys, super cool thread. Only thing I love more than tacos are airplanes.

Here's a quick pic of me in the office earlier this week. Nicer weather means we get to keep the canopy up :)

This is true. A rare day for me today. I worked solo (we almost always have a gate partner) and covered 757s & 767s. Weather was perfect...I was happy as a pig in shit!

I'm currently sitting on the ramp at McCarran with the AC on full in the cockpit and it's only March. I couldn't do the desert year round.

In the CAOC, we would cheer anytime an F-4 or A-6 Wild Weasel would kill a SAM radar or launcher.

I remember that General Horner had a hard-on for killing SAMs. Schwartzkoph's mission plan for the Republican Guard may have been B-52s dropping 500lb screaming gravity bombs, but Horner insisted on Aardvark jammers (spark varks) and Wild Weasels leading the way.

Before the assault, the WWs dropped leaflets that stated the time and direction the BUFFs were coming from.

The RF-4Cs from Bergstom (my home station, Austin TX!) would run a high speed photo pass and "wake up" the ZSUs and SAMs. Then the 'Varks would blind them and the WWs would kill them. The BUFFs dropped their whistling gravity ordinance (frightening shit) until they figured the RG was at 50% strength, and then they called off the attack. The photo phantoms then made another pass for battle damage assessment.

Two days later the WWs dropped their warning leaflets again. The first wave of the attack was called off after the first few drops because the soldiers and armor crews has abandoned their vehicles and fled in terror. Our armor found them empty, hatches open, and in some cases engines still running.

    Fucking air power, baby!

Any SAM we found up until around 1994 we blew up, especially in the no fly zones.

I'm still a bit young in the hog for weapons school. Headed down there to fly with em though, and hopefully get an idea if it's something I wanna shoot for or not.

From when I was working up in Inuvik NWT, over 10 years ago now. Feels like yesterday. Sixty days of darkness. Took these the first day the sun came back up.

66th is great, good guys out there right now too. We were down at China Lake last week at their ECR watching them "fight" the SAMs. Cool cool stuff.
