Took my pup for her first airplane ride with the mutt muffs. We’ve been slowly getting used to wearing them at home in short intervals, and I think that practice definitely helped!

    87 fuel added as needed.
I really feel like I don't, but that I'd have some entertaining ideas....

Butter smooth IFR flight today to drop off my plane for some avionics upgrades. I’m having a new (to me but still old) audio panel and nav/comm installed. Hopefully they’ll be able to wire the #2 nav/comm to the Garmin G5’s so that I’ll be able to overlay 2 nav sources on the HSI and then be able to remove both of those CDI’s from the panel. If not, then I’m at least removing the LOC only CDI. My new #2 nav/comm will have a glideslope. Woo! I’m swapping the audio panel for a PMA6000M and the nav/comm for an SL30. I’m excited! Depending on where the cost comes to, I’m going to see about also removing the marker beacon antenna and associated wiring as well. I don’t like having unused equipment taking up weight and creating drag.

Eventually, I’d like an engine monitor to go in place of those 2 CDI’s so I may as well go ahead and free up the space on the panel and shave half a pound.

Thanks, I’m looking forward to having a newer audio panel and #2 nav/comm to completely get rid of the old equipment

Have any of y'all used an online ground school? I'm starting to research my options.

For what? I used the King online ground school for private and instrument and it was very dull but full of information. John and Martha king are grandma and grandpa of general aviation, haha. A friend of mine is going through his private training right now and used the Sporty's online ground school and he said it was fine. Sporty's is cheaper than the King stuff, but most people don't use multiple platforms so it's hard to really have good comparisons between the options out there.

    Oops, my PPL.
I’ve seen some ads for the sporty’s option, never heard of King.
I have an Amazon tablet for work that I can use but I also would like to get my laptop screen repaired and have the ability to use it, my phone screen is too small to use for studying so I don’t know that I would benefit from having an app based program.

The only reason I used the King stuff was because I was in a part 141 flight school and that’s what the curriculum used. I actually have old school DVD sets for the King lessons for private, instrument and commercial. One of my early mentors gave them to me just as something cool to have. I’ve never played any of the disks, but the King’s have been around for a long time.

I've still got my King dvds somewhere. Yeah they're quirky and dated but I learned from them.

When the airfield manager can't figure out what a snow plow is in a place that gets snow every year you just bust out your own snowblower.
