I think being a maintainer in the navy would have been a bit more interesting.

    Yikes...

Man flying for a living isn't an easy career and best started young. Not saying it's off the table for you but, you'll need to move fast. Best of luck!

Oh shit no...not today. I've worked at places like United Airlines, ATA Airlines & FedEx in several different jobs all around AirOps (so many ex-military) and it's the world today. There's ZERO space for anything other than PC behavior.

Shit I got yelled at for making mistakes as a new guy, everyone makes mistakes as new dudes on the flight line and getting yelled at insures they don't make the same mistake again lol but guess that's not for sensitive people

If it's what you want to do, do it.

I joined the military at 17. Knew I wanted to fly but didn't have the grades or money to go to college and be an officer, so I enlisted. While enlisted I managed to work my way toward being an Aircrewman and Rescue Swimmer. After 12 years of dreaming, I finally graduated from college and was selected for pilot training. I was 30 yo and had to get a waiver, bit they gave it to me. Spent the rest of my career flying in the front seat finally, until I retired in 2013. Don't give up.

100% with you on that man. Go for it and dive in head first if it's what you want to do...I'd do the same.

Oh ya, it's so bad in the private sector (at least the places I work(ed)) terminating an employee is out of the question. It just doesn't happen. I get the occasional conversation from my bosses boss because I come across as "abrasive" to my boss. He won't even tell me himself...the bad part is, I don't even know I'm coming across that way. Kinda hard to fix.

Congrats on at least knowing what direction you wanted to go. Had a best friend from HS go into Navy and like 5yrs later committed suicide so that threw me for a loop ... he was discharged at time of death though.

I missed the boat was ready at like 25 and went to CoastGuard recruiter ..they said too late ??

Really wanted to be cop on the water at that time, maybe it was more 28ish ..I forget.
