Now that would make living at an airpark worth it.

...^^^... Hummm ... I wonder if the pilots/crew have a "Carry Permit" and/or are allowed to bring their weapons on board ?

1,000%. The 12 minute drive from my house to my hangar kind of kills the time saver aspect of it, but it’s still fun.

Being foreign registered, I'd assume not, or at the very least, a massive headache every time you walked through customs.

They could just leave them on the plane.

In the US, maybe, but if you leave it on the plane all the time, what's the point of even bringing it? . Plus, like it or not, firearm ownership abroad is usually a migraine inducing headache, and for a corp jet crew, there's no way that's worth it to the folks in the back paying them. There's a reason that basically every vessel that visits a foreign port is unarmed. The paperwork is way more hassle than its worth if they even permit it. More than a few M-4s have been tossed over the side pre-arrival by security contractors instead of trying to deal with customs and port authorities.

Not meant to be political, but a sad day for a historic helicopter.

Left for dead and rendered inop on the ramp in Kabul yesterday. Several of my OGA buddies spent the best years of their lives in the back of this bird.

On the cargo ship I worked on we kept our ARs and shotguns in the bonded stores locker outside of pirate areas. Local customs would place a seal over the door. That was from 2007 til I left in 2010. Bounced around Asia, Africa and Egypt like that with no issues.

What's crazy is that it appears that one of the Phrogs may have the same BuNo as one used to help evacuate Saigon: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zo...-saigon-the-ch-46-phrog-did-it-again-in-kabul

Yeah, that's why I said basically. I know there's a few ships that have sealable lockers like that and are willing to accept the extra time needed to be sealed by customs. All depends on management policy and the wishes of the owner/captian I guess.

It was def an old bird. Wouldn't surprise me. That's what I was alluding to when I said "historic helicopter". The one in the pic is the BuNo you're referring to.

Sad, but I def think this was a convenient excuse by DoS to acquire a new air wing that was at least surplused this century, since they left their other -46s on the ramp full of holes as well.

Always mixed feelings for me when I see the Phrog. My godfather was a Marine pilot flying them in ‘69 and didn’t make it back.

Always am grateful for all who served.

    Thanks for posting it.

My father flew those in the USMC. And is still flying them. Maybe even that tail. Whistling Trashcan of Death, he calls it.

    Amen.

GWOT was/is a strange beast. Just as much .gov involvement behind the scenes as .mil activity in your face on CNN thanks to the nebulous concept of a war of ideology. Mad respect to the folks in harm's way on the ground, even inside the wire, facing possible green on blue. "War" didn't look quite the same on the drone feeds back in DC.

After years of looking into our narrow IAE engines it never gets old seeing how much bigger these PW’s are! Finally the Airbus looks good
