...^^^... Finances and wants/needs aside ... an important part to me would be ... you REALLY KNOW the idiosyncrasies of this very aircraft today ... difficult to say that when you buy another bird.

Beautiful aircraft you have now ...

FWIW ....... On a parallel thought ... I am sick that I did not keep some of the muscle cars that I have owned ... IF I would have just kept one ... I would be happy with that decision ... but I can't go back now and get one.

Thanks for your input. The last paragraph in particular speaks to me. I’m not too worried about the cost to buy it out. Hell, a really nice fishing or pontoon boat cost more than what I’d have into it. It’s the price of re-admission if I did have sellers remorse that weighs on my mind. I’ve got an airframe that was zero timed in 2010, and an 0-320 with less than a 100hrs under the cowling. You won’t find that today for what we paid in 2016. I think we were pretty effing lucky then to get what we did. I just don’t want to end up looking back, kick myself for not keeping it.

I’ve spent a couple of really nice evenings with it the last two days. Flying down Lake of the Woods yesterday. Up to Big Sand lake this evening to pop off a few rounds of .22lr at some steel targets. Might be pretty small on the adventure scale, but it’s an escape to someplace where the outside world doesn’t exist to me. At least for an hour or two. How do you put a price on that?

Had the fortunate opportunity of knowing a 767 then 320 right seat guy needing his 6 month recurrences so got to go Left seat with him at the Sims on Airport (prior to moving to Derry and Bramalea). Helped that I lived 10 min away and willing to show up at 2am.

Was real cool for a PPL guy

That would be a neat experience for a PPL. I won't even say yes to being a seat fill if I get cold called for it. I should. It's easy OT. Don't even need to pack a lunch. I just dislike going to sim. Being in sim is fine as I don't really get sim nerves. It's just driving to our complex and walking into the sim building feels like showing up at a 9 to 5. Gives me the chills. My running countdown has me at 25 sim training events to retirement. I have 13 PPC's and 12 LOFT to go. All on current type. I enjoy the variety of flying we do on the narrow body, and don't have any interest in doing long haul.

Oh! And I bought a plane today. Cut a cheque, that's Canadian for check, to buy out my partner today. It's 100% my baby/problem now.

Thanks! Yellow airplanes look great. We've owned it for 5 years this month. Had to think about it for a minute when my partner came to me and said he was ready to quit flying. I'm just not ready to let it go, so the choice to buy him out or sell wasn't too hard to make.
I hear you. If it floats, flies, or something something's! Right? But there's not even 200 hours on a ground up restoration, and around a hundred hours now on an overhauled 0-320. And its owner maintenance category. It's was gone over thoroughly by a very particular AME last winter as well. Hopefully I don't have much if any expenses in the near future aside from fuel and oil.

Airlines/FAA moved to a program called AQP, Advanced Qualification Program, where we go once a year and everything is scenario based. The systems, problems, and scenarios change every year and it’s actually much better training that just doing the same procedures or maneuvers like V1 cuts or fires every year.

After 2 years of the cost of an IFR certified plane, and keeping myself current, AND never ever needing to fly IFR... it was cheaper to sell it and rent. I sure miss having a plane tied down in my backyard tho.

Ah! I see. I think our main competitor up here does something similar to what you described. Seems like a great way to conduct recurrents. You don't really walk out of a PPC feeling like you've learned anything. Just the relief of having your ticket punched for another year.

My dream was always to have a J-3 tied to my dock. After flying Citabria's, the dream changed. Never give up on it. Giving up is growing up. And who really wants to fully relinquish the joy and wonder of childhood? Besides, everyone should have goals to work towards.

Speaking of docks, I hacked mine up. It didn't have much life left in it anyways. I really need to find a parking, and winter storage solution though. Think this might be it. The Jet Docks Seaplane Lift. Just needs a few inches of water. Can rest on bottom. Ice safe. Just drive on, winch it up to the stops, and tie it down to the cleats. I would likely still use my concrete tire weights over the winter, when storms or high winds or forecast, or when I'm away at my day gig.

Yeah, no currency worries for me. It's a fair weather flyer. Could handle some bigger water if i got rid of the 1800's and found a set of Edo 2000's, but I don't really need to be out in 2 foot waves. And this panel is bare bones, strictly VFR.
