All prospective! Funny how a GS or Bombardier look like they're rocketing down the runway @ rotation where the big cargo/transport aircraft look like they're creeping at essentially the same speeds.

I up near Bangor, ME so occasionally get a 124 and every few years the 224. Those are some big birds!

This was back in early Spring of this year.20210408_102516.jpg

My brother was a flight engineers on C-130s and C-5s. During his Iraq trips their C-5 would almost always get shot at during takeoff...with RPGs. He'd tell me stuff like "they're shooting at us with a weapon of maybe 800 feet range when we're at 3300...good luck with that. Hope they shoot straight up."

Things got dicey when they got SAMs, as the missile has a lot of signatures to choose from. But a C-5 carries a LOT of flares...

That C-5 looks so slow, like it's just hanging there like a balloon. I'm sure it looked like an easy target.

random sighting from my front porch a few weeks ago. heard a jet fly over, and another about 20 seconds later, and by the time the third was overhead i was outside seeing what the heck was going on. hearing one was weird but three super weird - and the noise wasn't the average private jet we get here. turned out it was 3 A-10's landing here. as i was watching the 3rd land i heard a different noise and something else approaching. it was 2 F-18's. they ended up dipping down then circling the valley - i think the crew in the tower and on the ground here were overwhelmed having that many wheels rolling on the taxiways so they told the F-18's to circle and give everyone on the ground time to clear out. had time to run in and grab my camera for a couple of quick shots as they came back around. not my best but not bad for a quick shot from the porch! REALLY hoped the A-10's were going to pop up again but no luck

They've got training missiles loaded, so probably playing around together somewhere near you. Growlers take out anti-air sites, A-10s take out everything else on the ground

THAT would have been cool to see! I'm sure they kept all public spectators at a distance but just to get pics of the planes on a regular highway.... I would have driven down for that!

Idiots. That one is 100% the fault of the charter coordinator that rides with the teams. How hard is it to tell the ground crew to "unload the back first"? Not very because I was on ground crews that handled large group charters and they told us that all the time. My wife saw this and started cursing this morning as she works at United in ground equipment procurement and shes saying now they will probably have to buy tail stands for evrey FBO LOL. I told her the above, but knowing United they will go with option B.
