That's my own handiwork. If I remember correctly I stripped twist ties and painted them copper.

I have the same one!! I built about 75% and then got distracted. That was about 3 years ago now. I really need to finish it.

    Well worth the taxes!
    Thank you.
I built some of the engines for those BIRDS.
Only got to see them close up once. Saw and heard 2 different fly overs.( boy they sure do make a sweet sound )

    Same as everybody else...

Wait...there's a model thread? I built scale models, mostly WW2 stuff but some from the 60s and 70s, for about fifteen years.

You're welcome Jeff! I've always loved building models. Just gets harder and harder to find the time

I think this is the Trumpeter kit, I built this year's ago. My dad worked at Pax River from the early 50s till the early 80s so I grew up around A7s, A6s, F4s, Tomcat etc. I've always like the Air Force Century series aircraft also and have built a few of those.

I figure once my life settles down I'd get my pilot's license. It's always been a dream of mine. I don't think I could ever fly professionally, but if I could I would.

There are certificates lower than the old private cert that you can earn and it would be much less expensive..... 'Recreation' and 'Sport' certificates.

If you have health issues, the Sport cert is best for those individuals.... no FAA medical examination.

Have you done your first training flight?

Do it man if you haven't. That'll give a good taste of general aviation (GA) as a hobby.

I think unless you hit the majors on larger mainline equipment, your current career path will earn you more dough and let you have a much more normal home life...of course unless you really want to fly. That of course assumes your career field doesn't take a shit.
