I thought that's where the pilot sits... isn't the bombardier usually further up in the nose?

designed to get a 16' x 4"x4" inside and can roll a drum of fuel through the door and the sound of those radial jugs is the voice of gods.

    Yeah.
This is the essence of engineering. Form follows function. But always follow function with form.

My great grandfather made a wooden toy that showed how a radial engine worked, kind of like a flat cutaway with cylinders, pistons, connecting rods, and a center shaft. You could grab a handle on the center shaft and spin it around, and all the cylinders would slide up and down in the cylinders. Fantastic woodwork, wish I had it, don't know who ended up with it.

I've used them a lot for moving and servicing our exploration camps in BC and the Yukon, hence I know the lumber dimensions and drum through the door.

Demobing camp from a lake, the last trip was me and my gear. The pilot ran aground when he cut too sharply around a point of land. I was waist deep in the lake holding the back of the float to point the plane to deeper water, fighting a breeze that wanted to turn the plane as the pilot powered off the gravel. Unfortunately he hole a float and then couldn't get going fast enough to get on the step for take off. We unloaded everything we could and after several attempts up and down the lake, finally got airborne. He was able to go back the next day with his 180 and get my personal gear.
