Avid bolt on sliders

I just ordered a set from SOS Concepts and have been considering getting them Line-X'd before I put them on. How much did you have to pay for the Line-X job? Your price seems like a steal for some lucky person.

These are more side steps not sliders for those looking for protection.

 

Then why does AVID outdoors a respected company sell them as sliders? I get your point weld on is better but pleanty run these. AVID would argue different

 

Sliders are supposed to take impacts. The holes that these mount to on the body of the truck can't hold up to the same force that the sliders that bolt on to the frame can.

 

That thing couldn't hold a hit of a small rock. True bolt on sliders bolt to frame of truck. Bolting onto stock location of side steps does absolutely nothing.

 

I recently installed these with the stand offs from avid. The weld on and these are the same product. Only difference is that these bolt to the rocker panel. Yes these are not meant to take impact, but you can cut the bolt on brackets off and weld on the standoffs. Then they become trail ready rock sliders.

 

The frame mount kit will set these up nice. A solid hit to these as is will do some damage though.

 

Agreed. I highly suggest to get them welded before any wheeling. I had them bolted to the rocker panel for a week or so and they're very handy just as a step as well. I would use the kick out as a step to get to the back end of my roof rack.

 

if you cant jack from them, they arent sliders of any sort. i bet if you asked avid, they would say they wouldnt recommend it.

 

I've lifted my truck off the ground to test, with my farm jack, several times. They weight about 60-70lbs a piece. The brackets are directly from avid.

The bolt-on slider/steps are an alternative to the step bars. They are designed more for the people that like the looks of sliders but don't need the super strength of weld ons. We understand that some people don't want to weld to their frame or drill a bunch of holes in it to get strength that they don't need. There is no drilling or welding required to install our bolt on version. They simply bolt into the factory running board mounts. Because of the mounting location, these sliders are not intended to support the weight of the truck but can be used as steps, dent protection, and light off-roading.

 

I think he is saying he has done that since doing the weld on modification kit from avid.

True slider are welded. And you are absolutely correct about all "sliders" that bolt to the rocker panels

 

Yeah they don't sell it directly through the website. The guy I bought them off called in and ordered them. He hadn't done the mod but was selling the standoffs with the sliders.
