These look good - anyone have pics with a light bar mounted up on the guard? How about without the light hoops?

Maybefor a large dog or just a stonger, nicer looking wide bull bar with light mount.

    Your welcome man!

I think it's got enough meet on it to take a decent hit and protect the bumper decently!

Just got mine back form being coated in Line-X! The LED bar is a CaliRaised 32" combo beam.

    Same as everybody else...
The guard they make for the second gen Tacomas gets really good reviews. I'm always looking for one on CL, Avid OR products are top shelf.

How does it hold up to a medium sized white trail at 50MPH?

Just finished my install today. Also did the bolt on style light duty sliders.

Are the sliders from avid off-road too or a different company? They look good.

They are indeed. The sliders and guard are also coated in Line-X instead of a powder coat.

Has anyone hit anything with one of these AVID bumper guards? Can it take a punch from saplings or brush? I had something similar on my '09 that I used to push brush and small trees around while out hunting or driving through my property.

I need something light for stock suspension. So I'm trying to decide between one of these and either the C4 lo-pro or SSO slimline. I just prefer to have wrap around protection in the front for bushes and stuff.

I haven't hit anything, but as far as the weight goes, I added 110 lbs between the guard and the sliders. I barely notice it, and I have the TRD OR as well.

Mine finally came in the mail today. Gonna mount the light bar first then the bumper/light altogether on the truck. Does anyone have any install tips? Does the factory skid plate need to come off? Does it use the pre-existing bolts and hardware or was it supposed to come with parts? Any input is helpful thanks!

The install write up is on avids web page. Looks pretty easy. I just painted mine this past weekend and will be installing it Thursday. The airdam will have to come off but I am going to try and trim it so I can put it back on..

uses the stock studs and 14mm nuts on the front bumper. You will need to cut some of the wheel fender plastic to accommodate the bar. I did that last so I didn't cut out more than I needed. The pieces were maybe 1.5" wide and no more than 5 or 6" long.

******PRO TIP: The installation will be MUCH easier if you remove the grill and the air deflectors next to the headlights. It takes an extra 3 minutes to do and will help dramatically!

This bar is way too low to guard against a deer. The body would still smash through your grill.

Avids website has good instructions. Nice call fellas thanks for the help. Bumper looks good. Even better with the black oak 30 bar on there.

:deep breaths: Ugh. Third Gen Forum. Ok here we go.

Yeah I can attest to Avid's work, I bumped in to many a things at low speed with no deflection on the bumper, I even pulled some chicks bumper off the back of her car when I was backing up and the Avid bar hooked under her rear bumper and I didn't realize it until I saw her whole car jump. Zero damage to my truck or the avid bar (except minor paint scratches, but it was rattle canned anyways lol)
