If I were to order an OR from my dealer with the TRD lift kit, would it come factory installed? Essentially that would remove the need for labor on the install. My dealer seems to think they install it at the factory if ordered that way, but I see Toyota's press release mention that it is "only a dealer install lift". Not sure what to take from that.

You won't get a factory ins6alled lift, unless you are getting a pro.
Dealer will have to install it and that won't be cheap.
Best to get some beer and pizza, get some local members to help you install it.

Damn, that's what I was thinking. Definitely not worth the dough if they force you to pay their labor costs for a warranty.

Just to play devils advocate here.... The trail edition this year comes with a factory installed lift. So, are we sure that the TRD lift cant be installed at the factory. Seems silly to order a truck with it just to send it out seperatley.

Based on the Toyota Production System (allocation) alone, you probably wouldn’t be able to request a vehicle with a factory installed TRD lift, and it doesn’t appear to be an option they’re including in any of their allocated trims. You don’t “order” Toyotas anyway, they’re not custom built to customer spec. Think of the lift as just like any other dealer-installed add-on.

The main thing you gain from the dealer install, is it will fall under the 3/36 warranty. If you install and have any issues they will probably say pound sand.
