Yeah, I thought it was odd the way the article was written, but I figured if folks would know it would be here.

I’ve seen in-channel ones cause issues with the auto-up windows on fords, because it thinks its hitting an appendage so it bounces back

I’d also want out of channel because they prevent more vertical rainfall from getting into the truck with the windows all the way down - the angle of these trucks is such that a heavy downpour drenches the doorcard if you have to open the window for say, a toll booth

I have the AVS low pro in channel and love them. Had them for 6 months and no issues.

I have the In-Channel AVS. Got them at Advanced Auto; I think. Used a $20 off and some other discount the employee hooked me up with. Came out to about $40.
They have been great for me. Especially with the Prinsu rack. If its raining and you crack a window and your not perfectly level, that rack will send a waterfall your way. These have reduced it greatly.

Spiders like laying up under them on hot days then when you crack your windows they get in your truck and build webs. I hate getting in my truck and take a spider web across the face. Dust and grit blowing in the wind across the parking lot will coat your interior also.

I don't crack my windows so I have no issues with dust or spiders.

Looks like the OP has already ordered a set, but for my 2 cents I've used AVS for many years and never had a problem with them. Both in channel and out-of-channel. I was looking at getting a set of shades for my SR and decided to go with AVS due to past history with them. So I just bought a set of AVS in channel.

Spend the extra $50 and get WeatherTech in-channel.
I have AVS in-channel, and wish I had gotten the WeatherTech instead.

I just got the AVS in channel not too long ago and am enjoying them so far. If you install properly you should not have any problems with window functionality.
