Yes, 100% , ordered it in , and had them install it.. Touched the truck in front of the hood in 2 places , the same place on either side.. Cut into the paint a bit, I wasn't happy at all. I have the avs aeroskin on my crv and am happy with that...

Mine didn't touch the hood when it was on, there was space under there, but an edge on the deflector touched the front nose of the truck , near the contour on the hood. The way it touched the edge actually cut into the paint.. It was an auto accessory place that did the install, the hood was only closed once, and not driven, I figured if I drove anywhere it would have done more damage

End result was a small mark in the paint on the front nose of the truck ahead of the hood on either side

Just the bug flector, although I never did see the box as they did the install, it had the AVS logo on it though and the profile was fairly low

If I get a chance tomorrow , I'll take a pic of where it touched and marked the paint. The marks are pretty small , not even 1/4 inch , as it was the edge of the flector across the edge of the nose, near the contour. I'm hoping the leading nose is plastic , I don't want it rusting where the paint is broke.

It was a sharp edge and pressing pretty hard, after a few hood closings and some driving , I'm pretty sure it would cut through the tape..

Not to mention for the price, it just shouldn't touch...

I'm going with the dealer model, and honestly only a few dollars more

Stupid question, but could/would this protect the hood from paint chips? I spent a buttload of money on wrapping the front of my other car in paint protectant and I'm trying to decide what to do with this one.

Keeps bugs and small stuff from the windshield. Nothing more. Not equivalent to a wrap. Its not there to protect the front of the truck form anything, Just changes wind direction to send the small stuff over the windshield

But it will take a rock to the deflector which would better than nothing,

Yall getting these must not have lovebugs. Though I would imagine that they would help in areas with normal bug populations.

I have typically installed a bug shield on all of my trucks, but this just does not look good. If the hood was flat all the way across it would look ok, but I think the way the hood steps down on the sides makes the shield look weird.

I just installed mine... No rubbing any where... Make sure you haven't overtightened it too much as it does tend to push away and up on the edges if you do..

Saw thread, ordered AVS Bugflector II from AutoAnything. Looks good. Had one on my 2nd gen from factory, and always liked the look it gave. Any pics from the drivers seat of how it looks at the end of the hood while driving?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I have the old version of this on my first gen and it is a boss at throwing every piece of road debris and insect garbage directly at my windshield. Literally I think it is aimed right at my face. That said I leave it on because it has rubbed all of the paint under itself off and it sorta makes the truck stand out. Also I think I may be one of the only first gen guys @TacoBella can still see. Looks good on the 3rd gen but be sure to protect your hood where it folds over so you don't have missing paint from it.

I will get them ASAP. I removed the reflector to put 3M protection on the leading edge of the hood. I would guess it would not be seen as the Scoop and the drop down in the nose may hide it.
