I have had these and side vent visors on my trucks beginning in 1995. I have always liked the look and the bug deflection. I had them on my 1st and 2nd gen Tacos. They looked good. I am not sold on the ones I have seen. I am hopeful the manufacturers make fit changes to eliminate paint damage risks in the near future. I am also questioning vent visors. On my 2014 F150 the in'channels really scored the top of the glass. Another risk of damage. Would not consider tape on types though I am curious about a new tape on that looks like it is in channel. The biggest problem is that accessories are rare for the access cabs. I am looking hard for westin 5" stainless nerf bars.My first priority. I will monitor this site for any new bug shield success stories.

The six screws the hold it under the hood are very tight and leave no room for adjustment that I can see
My plan will be to take my Dremmal and grind down the sharp edge you see in the picture on both sides
Luckily you can't see the mark it left it's on the inside where the hood meets the front only on one side
I will touch it up with a little Mopar B7 BLUE !!!

Thank you for the info, you just saved me $52.00. I was going to buy the in channel vent visors but another members post saved me another $50. I can get along fine without paying for accessories that damage my truck.

Lucky for me the pin mark on one side only on one side the inside and can't be seen and the trim around the grill is Plastic and won't have to worry about rust. Not sure though if the OEM from Toyota or Weather Techs. will be any better.
My new plan will not use this one from AVS,Out $50 Bucks but live and learn
and not sure about Toyota or Weather tect . Will wait and See .I did buy AVS InChannel wind deflector and they work very well

I have one coming but may send it back if
TOMRR mod does not work. I have struggled with how one would fit around the new hood.

I am not going to bother with a mod of the AVS Bud Deflector II. Just going chalk it up for a loss and a learning experience. Not sure if I will get one from weather Tech. But will wait it out to be sure !!!

I put in a request with Weathertech to notify me when the bug deflector is ready for the 2016 Tacoma.
Not going to pop on the AVS.

Why a deflector over a clear bra? Or is it just cost? Function?

I'm afraid of the clear bra over the years. Not sure how easy it is to remove and replace. Has anyone heard how the clear film is performing? Personally I think Toyota went that way because of the hood and grill design and no good way to protect it otherwise.

I have a clear protective front film over the front, hood and mirrors of my new Vette. It does not do a good job of rock hits are all. Of course, I was not going to put a bug deflector on it. I would not consider a clear bra a good alternative as you want some updraft to get bugs and rocks to pass over the windshield.

If I find any rubbing, I would just use the Dremel to take the offending area down.

That's what I was going to do, But also think it to close to the lip of the hood and could cause some issues there also .It put a little nick on the inside of the trim around the grill ,Luckily it can't be seen.

Doesn't look like it's rubbing the paint anywhere that I can see. Sits on top of the weather stripping. Easy install, I like the look. Had my dad give me a second set of hands to help position the guard while putting screws in. Really needs to be tugged on to line all the holes up.

Mine's still in the box in the garage, not sure if I will install yet. Looks good though.

I am not looking to protect the finish. I like seeing bugs and the small stuff get thrown over the truck which is why I bought the one with the highest deflection. The stock Toyota unit does nothing.

I use the 3M clear bra material on the door sills and in cabin kick plates . I don't worry about chips on the front. I can fix those easy enough when I am ready to sell or trade, I have done a lot of them on all our vehicles. Wet sanding is fun!!

Mine's going back to Autoanything tomorrow. would like to install but afraid of it. You guys that have installed them they look great. I'll wait until they come out with something a little different if they ever do. Not much room at the front of the hood.

I installed my bug deflector 2 yesterday. I was impressed at how easy it was. I didnt even use the included bumpers since I dont see how it could rub. Plenty of clearance.
