Anyone with AVS in-channels sound like they are going to break off (snap sound) when they roll them down after the window has been up for a day or so? I tried to catch a video of it. After you roll them down the 1st time, the noise going down sort of gets better, but also in the very front (towards the hood) of the visor is already loose after a short drive and pops as well when rolling them up. I did not capture the noise when going up. I am worried it will either damage the weather stripping and/or window tint if I take no action. You can see them move a bit when you roll the window down in the video.

I am guessing they need to be removed and re-taped, especially since the front of the visor is coming loose already after driving. Thoughts or feedback? I installed them in 75 degree weather, cleaned as directed, and let them set for 3 days before rolling the window down.

I have the AVS in channel and do not have that issue. I put mine on in my garage when it was 50ish deg. Made sure I cleaned the felt with the supplied cleaner wipe. Installed the vent shades, put the windows up and let them sit for 3-4 days. That was a year ago.

*edit* I made sure to rub/apply pressure to the visor to help seat the 3M tape into the felt.

Did you thoroughly clean the seals before installing? The little included wipes are not sufficient, IMHO.

Installed mine on a warm day and only let them set overnight. They have worked great since, even in weather down to the teens. No noises or jamming.

I think you will have a hard time cleaning off the VHB tape and getting new stuff on there securely without damaging them?

Just adding myself as another data point for you, my experience is identical to what @rolled93slc said. Good luck

I doubt he will have much trouble getting the tape off. Sounds like it didn't stick to start with. You can get a roll of 3M two sided tape at any parts store. Same stuff they use from AVS. And a little bit of heat from a hair dryer will soften that stuff up, if it wants to be difficult to remove.

I was talking about the stuff on the visor side. I've cleaned up VHB tape before. Very unpleasant. Hopefully it works out for you.

I’ve had my AVS for about 3 years with no issue. Maybe take them off and reinstall them with new tape.

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and removed the inchannel visor today. I cleaned them well w/alcohol and reapplied with 3m exterior attachment tape. I will wait three days and see what happens.

On my sienna, it does make loud cracking/snapping sound on the first roll up & it’s very difficult to roll up all the way. With some help pushing the windows up while someone else press the up button, it go up all the way. After 2days in the sun, the sound stop & is easier to roll the window up & down.

My Tacoma doesn’t make any cracking/snapping noise, and is easier to roll the window up vs the sienna.

I do notice that the window tint wear out in 1-2 spot at the top. I’m not too worry about the tint since it’s covered within the weather stripping.

Same here no issues with my AVS in channel. Like some have stated if you followed the instruction then you would not have any issues. just saying.

5 years, I have had my AVS visors in place... I think of them as factory equipment since they were the first mod after purchasing.

Good temperature and pressure, followed by not rolling down the windows for a day or two, longer if it is cold out.

Make sure the new tape you use is high quality and thin. Using something thicker will make the grinding and popping worse.
