Thanks for all the input. Looking like in channel AVS for the win. Any reason to do these before getting the truck tinted? Or after? I’m not sure if/how they could interact with the tint

I agree, they do make the blind spot a bit bigger.

Only issue Ive had so far with my in channel AVS is grit and dust on the outside of the window is actually starting to wear into the glass a bit. Obviously not just an AVS issue, I'm sure they would all do it if you drive in dirty dusty conditions but it wasnt something I was expecting.

The tint guy will remove your in channel vent shades to do the tint installation. At least they did on my FJ and i had to reinstall them. I would wait until the tint is installed and completely dry.

I have tinted windows and my installer recommended I stay away from the in channel ones. He says they fit tightly on the Tacoma and he has seen people come in with their tint messed up because of this. I do see people here with tinted windows and they aren’t having that happen. I decided to play it safe and not install them.

You're the first person to say this, so good to know, thanks. Like you said, a lot of people don't seem to have issues. But something to consider. Maybe I'll talk to whatever tint shop I end up using and include their input in my decision.

I just had my windows tinted 2 weeks ago and in the channel AVS have been on the truck since June last year and there was no issues tinting the windows. None that the installer had to say about.

There’s a tint guy on YouTube that says this as well. It’s the reason I decided against installing them on my truck.

Can someone please help me understand- what's the point of these? Like, I get it for places that rain all the time, and they look cool- we all love that. But functionally, do they serve any other purpose or is it just for the occasional rain? I see them a lot in the Midwest, do they do anything for snow? Do they increase or decrease wind noise?

I would say the point of these have been made very clear in this thread. I guess either you get it or you don't but I can assure you that they are not there to "look cool" on my truck.

simple. i can roll the windows down slightly to provide some ventilation so when it's parked all day at work baking in the sun, it's not a bajillion degrees inside when i get back to it. it also doesn't look like the windows are down, so people don't fuss with it.

i run the avs versions. weathertech is local, and i have difficulty with their 'politics'. drive past their facility, and it's like a rockstar moved in, bought up all the buildings, and billboards, and is showing off his wealth. i'm happy for the guy, but just way too much wealth consolidation in one place to make a more normal guy like me feel comfortable being anywhere near it.

Just installed the AVS in channel "regular" visors. Was thinking I might have an issue with window hitting lower front corner when going up. Wedged some cardboard in there for the time being. Now need to wait the suggested 72 hours.
As far as the guy who asked what the purpose is, should be pretty obvious right? Cuts down on rain and snow getting inside, some wind, and glare. Can crack a window when it rains (think smokers even tho I dont) and wont get wet. The wind reduction is very noticeable on some vehicles more than others. Doubt it will make much difference on the Tacoma. They look good and are very inexpensive. One of the very best mods for any vehicle IMO.
